Artist's Comments
Anyone who has done Amsterdam properly will be familiar with the Dam Square - the focal point of the city. Just over the tram, car and bicycle lanes on the other side of the street is the DamRak Monument. A statue which equals the nearby Krasnapolsky hotel in height. The base of the statue is normally layered with tourists, dealers, beggers, horsedrawn carriages and street entertainers. In the early hours of the morning there are one or two other people about - this really does make the difference.
